Young Canadians aged 15-24 years have the highest incidence of mental health issues of any age group in Canada. Suicide is the second leading cause of death for this age group in Canada outranked only by accidents. 4,000 young people take their own lives in Canada each year. 70% of mental health issues have their onset during childhood and adolescence. These are painful statistics that desperately require greater attention and funding.

Sharing your photo shows today’s youth you support their journey towards mental well-being and that they are not alone.

(Although high school photos are preferred, we understand not everyone has access to one– any photo of you will work.)

The effects of bullying on mental heath, and issues such as anorexia, depression and self-harm, are serious and prevalent in the lives of Canadian youth today. Without proper help these emotional and physical states follow young people into adulthood, impacting future relationships and social/emotional wellbeing.

By sharing your photo and some encouraging words, you can help young people and their families who are dealing with various issues, feel like they are not alone.

By tagging the words below, participants will be able to search by issue/term (optional)
